NSW: Woman critical after being hit by truck
SYDNEY, April 21 AAP - A woman is in hospital in a critical condition after being hitby a truck in Sydney's city centre, police said.
She was hit after leaving a bar with two friends at the intersection of Sussex andKing streets to hail a taxi about 5.30am (AEST) yesterday.
Senior Constable Amanda Calder from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit saidthe driver told police he was turning into Sussex Street when he felt a bump and saw awoman lying on the road.
The 20-year-old Neutral Bay woman was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with extensivehead, chest and head injuries.
Police said she was understood to be in a critical condition.
"There would have been a number of patrons from nearby hotels who might have witnessedthe accident who we would like to hear from," Sen Const Calder said in a statement.
"We are still trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident andare relying on information from witnesses," she said.
