VIC: Jewish students to protest over Austria s right

MELBOURNE, Feb 13 AAP - Hundreds of Jewish students are expected to demonstrate outside
State Parliament in Melbourne this morning over Austria's move to the right.

The rally is going ahead despite Austria's ambassador in Australia requesting that
a delegation of students meet with him instead of holding the rally.

Jeremy Leibler, the chairman of the rally organising group, Zionist Youth Council,
said this morning that while the rally was going ahead as planned, the group would meet
with the ambassador, Otmar Koler in Canberra next week,

University students from the Australasian Union of Jewish Students are among those
expected to attend the rally which will be addressed by Victoria's Minister for Small
Business and Consumer Affairs, Marsh Thomson.

He asked to speak at it.

"We are outraged by the inclusion of Jorg Haider's Freedom Party in the current Austrian
government," Mr Leibler said.
